….project background: “Development of age-appropriate districts”, grant-aided by the ministry of health, equalities, care and ageing in North Rhine-Westphalia.

1) The aim of the project  „Quartiersbegleitung Paderborn“

Initiatives of ten districts in Paderborn work partly volunteer and partly full-time together with the administration of the city council. Their purpose is to structure the districts for and with the locals. Offers and requests for and with the locals are developed toegther in a team. Issues like housing for the elderly, care, refugee aid, public relations and social interaction are the main topics of the individual districts.

Anyone interested may contact the individual district initiatives. You can find your district on the website www.paderborn.de/quartiersarbeit  or through “ Anlaufstelle für bürgerschaftliches Engagement der Stadt Paderborn“ (contact see below), which is the

the focal point for civic engagement of Paderborn. Each district has individual priorities, where and in which way interested actives can help.

3) Expectations:

-to be interested in your own district and interested to take actively part in your district

-to create, accompany and support the inhabitants by building up offerings or ideas for their/ your district

4) Specials/ Particularities:

– Possibility for foreign students to be actively involved in processes of their neighborhood and thus to experience besides active participation also social inclusion

-The translation is given by the individual districts and a pool of volunteers with different national and cultural backgrounds.
