Inhalte (short description):

​The class is taught by our guest professor Prof. Gary L. Hunter, Ph.D.

The course attempts to:

  • Develop in students a sense of the changing environment (e.g., social, legal, regulatory, globalization, and technological) and its influence on retailing.
  • Develop teaming and group effectiveness skills through the use of group projects.
  • Develop written and oral communication skills (in English) through written and oral reports regarding different facets of retail businesses.
  • Develop computer skills through the use of presentation software.
  • Develop quantitative and statistical skills through the diagnosis of retail financial statements.
  • Develop an understanding of how the demographic diversity of consumers and employees impacts retailers.
  • Upon completion of the course, students should be able to:

  • Communicate effectively with experienced retail marketers.
  • Demonstrate awareness of ethical practices in retailing.
  • Demonstrate the ability to use quantitative and qualitative tools to recognize potential retail opportunities.
  • Demonstrate the ability to apply the knowledge base developed in this course to take advantage of recognized retail opportunities.
