Inhalte (short description):

In this project, students learn and discuss specific challenges and approaches to learning, working and innovating in African contexts. The labour market in African economies as well as the institutional and cultural background will be discussed. Particular attention is devoted to labour market demographics as well as the assets and liabilities which the institutional background provides. Some liabilities stem from the colonial past and the limited success of existing approaches to increasing wealth. Students then learn, discuss and evaluate novel approaches to learning, working, and innovating pursued by Kabakoo, a learning network in West Africa (https://www.kabakoo.africa/). The novel solutions include the idea that learners and communities can benefit from blended learning, from combining high-tech with local, problem-oriented expertise, and from pursuing both formal and informal types of employment and entrepreneurship. When working on the topics, students will get into contact with the employees and the co-founders of Kabakoo, Dr. Yanick Kemayou and Michèle Traoré. In close tutorship by Prof. Dr. Martin Schneider and Enja Herdejürgen, students present their insights in an accessible way to the general public. The resulting presentations (for example, posters, discussions, exhibits etc.) will form an integral part of the three-day event “Highdigenous Live – The Festival of Wondering”, which will be organized on campus from 11 to 13 July 2024 and will focus not only on innovation/learning but also on architecture and music in the context of Mali, the Sahel, and Africa as a whole (https://www.highdigenous.live/).
