Inhalte (short description):

The module offers students a practice-oriented introduction to the entrepreneurial process. At the core is (1) the business simulation game TOPSIM and a (2) Find-your-idea Workshop, in which teams simulate starting a business.

(1)   Key topics of TOPSIM include:

  • Development of a business strategy,
  • Analysis of market and competitive conditions,
  • Decision-making in financing, production, marketing, and sales,
  • Managing economic and entrepreneurial risks,
  • Reflection and evaluation of results.
  • Upon successful completion of the module, students will be able to:

  • Analyze the key phases and challenges of the entrepreneurial process,
  • Make well-founded business decisions under uncertainty,
  • Strategically plan a startup project considering economic aspects,
  • Evaluate the impact of decisions on various business areas,
  • Promote teamwork and entrepreneurial thinking.

     
  • (2)   In the Find-your-Idea Workshop students use various methods from Design Thinking, Lean-Start-up, and Value proporsition canvas. They embark on this process together, challenging their creativity. They take the first step toward idea generation and explore numerous new opportunities. In this workshop, students experience a new work culture based on empathy, playful experimentation, and a problem-oriented mindset. Through a combination of brief inputs, hands-on exercises, and mutual feedback, they immerse themselves in the agile working world.

    ​… learn how to develop a start-up according to the lean start-up method and recognize the importance of disruptive innovations. They acquire the ability to identify customer needs, define target groups and translate their assumptions into falsifiable business model hypotheses. They evaluate their own assumptions using empirical methods in order to check whether the problem-solution fit has been achieved.​

    ... learn to communicate their assumptions and solution ideas to third parties in an understandable way, both verbally and via electronic media.​

    ...practise joint agile project work, self-organization in a team and the constructive analysis and joint discussion of start-up and business ideas. They learn strategies of gathering data, modeling and forming hypotheses, and conducting empirical analyses.​

    The course takes place in cooperation with the TH OWL and start-up coaches (TecUP/garage33).

     

    The business simulation game TOPSIM will take place on following dates:

  • Monday, 07.04.2025 I 09:15 – 13:00 h (Online Introduction)
  • Tuesday, 08.04.2025 I 09:15 – 16:30 h (Paderborn University/ garage33)
  • Wednesday, 09.04.2025 I 09:15 – 16:30 h (Technische Hochschule OWL, Lemgo)
  • Thursday, 10.04.2025 I 09:15 – 16:30 h (Paderborn University/ garage33)

    One day will take place at the TH OWL. We will travel together to the TH OWL in Lemgo.

     

    The Find-your-Idea-Workshop will take place at the garage33. You can chose one of the following dates:

  • Wednesday, 09.04.2025/ 24.05.2025 [English Edition]/ 18.06.2025/ 16.07.2025
  • (14:00-18:00 h)
