Inhalte (short description):
This seminar is designed to provide an introduction into the assessment of different sustainability initiatives and programs from a digitalization point of view. Students will present and discuss selected examples where digital innovations have been used to achieve sustainability goals. Moreover, they learn to evaluate whether and why digital innovations work or do not work. As part of the teaching program within the Center for Sustainable Economy, the seminar will be augmented with a group of students supervised by Prof. Dr. Martin Kesternich to add a economics perspective on current challenges in sustainability issues. The kickoff meeting takes place at the beginning of the semester. During the kickoff event, the possible topics for presentations/papers will be presented, and the literature will be announced. Presentation dates are scheduled for the middle of the semester (pre-Christmas break). The deadline for submitting the paper is at the end of the lecture period.

Studierende... learn how to read and critically research articles in the field of sustainability and digitalization improve their skills in assessing IS design results and their subsequent interpretation in scientific articles, policy reports and press articles

The course will be taught in English. Presentations and Seminar papers will be in English. The topics for the seminar papers will be provided by the lecturer. Attendance at the kick-off event is mandatory. All participants (those admitted and on the waiting list) who are unexcused absent from the first event will lose their admission and will be deregistered from the module.
