This master's course covers selected issues or cases in competition policy. Each student explores, discusses, and presents a current issue or a case that some cartel authority has previously investigated (e.g. the European Commission, the Office of Fair Trading (OFT), the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), or the Bundeskartellamt (BKartA)). More specifically, the students analyze the economic and welfare consequences of specific types of anti-competitive behavior. Further information will be provided in the introductory session. Outline: (a) We start with giving you a brief introduction into the topics. (b) You pick an issue or a case and phrase a research question that you want to explore. This has to be submitted as a short proposal.
