Inhalte (short description):

During the last decades, the so-called "third sector" has become a vital player in the economic, political, and social environment all over the world. Thus, the increasing number of non-profit organizations (NPO) warrants a detailed economic analysis to better understand their scope, structure, and policies. While NPOs differ substantially with respect to their mission and strategies, they share important characteristics, such as e.g. the absence of a profit motive and of a residual claimant. These characteristics call for unique organizational and management practices that clearly distinguish them from profit-maximizing firms.

In the first block of this seminar a lecture is given about the essence of NPOs. In the remainder of the seminar, students present special topics concerning the organization and management of NPOs and finally, write a 60 minutes exam.

The lecturer of this seminar is Mojgan Ghayour Najafabadi.
