Inhalte (short description):
Das Modul ist ein Seminar für die beiden Masterstudiengänge Management Information Systems und Wirtschaftsinformatik. Über die Vorlesungszeit finden ca. 3-4 Termine statt, bei denen die Studierenden in Kleingruppen ein Thema zu Fragestellungen im Operations Research bearbeiten. Die Veranstaltungen finden in der Vorlesungszeit statt, das Modul schließt mit einer Abschlusspräsentation während der Vorlesungszeit und der Abgabe der Hausarbeit nach der Vorlesungszeit. Die Prüfung erfolgt im Portfolioformat und umfasst die Abgabe der Hausarbeit sowie die Zwischen- und Abschlusspräsentation. The module is a seminar for the two Master's degree programs Management Information Systems and Business Information Systems. During the lecture period, approx. 3-4 sessions are held in which students work in small groups on a topic relating to issues in operations research. The sessions take place during the lecture period, the module concludes with a final presentation during the lecture period and the submission of the term paper after the lecture period. The examination takes place in a portfolio format and comprises the processing and submission of the term paper, an intermediate and a final presentation.

Inhalte (short description):

Das Modul ist ein Seminar für die beiden Masterstudiengänge Management Information Systems und Wirtschaftsinformatik.

Über die Vorlesungszeit finden ca. 3-4 Termine statt, bei denen die Studierenden in Kleingruppen ein Thema zu Fragestellungen im Operations Research bearbeiten.
Die Veranstaltungen finden in der Vorlesungszeit statt, das Modul schließt mit einer Abschlusspräsentation während der Vorlesungszeit und der Abgabe der Hausarbeit nach der Vorlesungszeit.
Die Prüfung erfolgt im Portfolioformat und umfasst die Abgabe der Hausarbeit sowie die Zwischen- und Abschlusspräsentation.

The module is a seminar for the two Master's degree programs Management Information Systems and Business Information Systems.

During the lecture period, approx. 3-4 sessions are held in which students work in small groups on a topic relating to issues in operations research.
The sessions take place during the lecture period, the module concludes with a final presentation during the lecture period and the submission of the term paper after the lecture period.
The examination takes place in a portfolio format and comprises the processing and submission of the term paper, an intermediate and a final presentation.

Studierende... vertiefen ihr Modellierungs- und Methodenwissen im Operations Research, indem sie die wissenschaftliche Literatur zu vorgegebenen Verfahren sichten und systematisch aufbereiten und Implementierungen von Algorithmen vornehmen und diese auf Probleminstanzen anwenden. Sie vertiefen ihre Fähigkeiten, ihre Arbeitsergebnisse zu präsentieren. Students... deepen their knowledge of OR-modelling and methods in operations research by reviewing and systematically preparing the scientific literature on given procedures and by making implementations of algorithms and applying them to problem instances. They expand their ability to present the results of their work.
Personale Kompetenz / Sozial (individual competences / social skills):
Studierende... nutzen das in Operations Research-Modulen erworbene Wissen, um Modelle Lösungsverfahren in die Optimierungslandschaft einzuordnen und hinsichtlich der Abdeckung in der wissenschaftlichen Literatur zu untersuchen. nutzen das in Programmierungsmodulen erworbene Wissen, um Algorithmen zu implementieren. Students... use the knowledge acquired in (other) operations research courses to classify models and solution methods in the optimization landscape and to examine them with respect to their coverage in the scientific literature. use the knowledge acquired in programming courses to implement algorithms.
Personale Kompetenz / Selbstständigkeit (individual competences / ability to perform autonomously):
Studierende... erfassen die Vor- und Nachteile mehrerer Modelle und Verfahren und lernen, diese anhand eines Kriterienkatalogs zu beurteilen und zu vergleichen. Students... grasp the advantages and disadvantages of various models and procedures and learn to evaluate and compare them based on a set of criteria.
