Inhalte (short description):

This course focuses on challenges and issues regarding international comparative management (ICM).


The lecture teaches: - Cultural and institutional theories, cultural models and the concept of cultural distance - Relationship between societal aspects (e.g., culture) and economic outcomes - National business systems - The role of institutions at the organizational level - The changing business environment and consequences for corporations - International corporate entrepreneurship - International leadership - International human resource management
The practical part consists of self-guided / self-selected case studies in which the content of the lecture shall be illustrated with an exemplary case or a comparison of multiple cases. 
NOTE: The language of the course is English.

​The project work consists in writing and presenting a case study on one or multiple cases to illustrate selected topics of the lecture. Depending on the topic of the respective lecture, relevant cases for the project work include companies, cultural regions, countries, ethnic or religious groups, and individual leaders. The assessment includes a presentation of preliminary results and a final report. For the project work, students will be assigned to groups (self-assignment is possible). The final written exam examines knowledge of the content of the lecture.
