Inhalte (short description):

​This module provides the students fundamental knowledge of quantitative methods in empirical economic research at introductory and anvanced level. The focus is on the theory, estimation and application of simple and multiple linear regression models. After a systematic introduction to econometrics, selected special topics, such as multicollinerity, heteroskedasticity, model selection and models with time series errors, will be dealt with in details. A brief introduction to the analysis of panel data will be provided as far as possible. The course is computer supported and will be provided with a lot of real data examples. Numerical examples in the lectures and tutorials will be dealt with the public powerful programing language R. During the visit of this modul you will also be introduced to the use of R in statistics and econometrics.

    This is the Econometrics course M.184.4479 in its design with 10 ECTS. From the academic year 2025-2026 this course will be provided as a combination of the new Econometrics with 5 ECTS and an additional project work on advanced topics in Chapters 9, 10, 11 and 13 of Gujarati's Basic Econometrics with own data examples. 
    Part one of this course is identical with the Module "Econometrics" (5 ECTS), including a project work and an exam. Part two of this course will be an advanced project work, that needs to be prepared individually by students. 
    Each part will contridute to 50% of the finnl assessment. Students must pass the assessments in both parts seperately.
    This module can only be selected by students in the Master program "International Economics and Management", who were first enrolled before the winter term 2025/2026.
