Velmerstot and Silberbachtal

Velmerstot is the highest mountain of the Eggegebirge. There are two hilltops, the Südkuppe (south hill) called Preußisch Velmerstot, about 464m high, and the Nordkuppe (north hill), called Lippische Velmerstot, with a hight of 441m. They are located at a  distance of about 650m, connected by a small mountain ridge. On the Südkappe there is the Eggeturm (a viewing tower). The tower is a wooden construction and about 17m high. The viewing platform is located at a hight of 9,15m and offers a captivating panorama with view of the Steinheimer Becken, Weserbergland, Lipperland and Münsterland. On the Nordkuppe (North hill) there is an impressive sandstone hill with a memorial stone for visitors. Close to the mountain top is the Silberachtal. Here Eggegebirge and Teutoburger Forest meet.

Hiking trail:

Whoever likes to hike and wants to get a breathtaking view and natural idyll, should definitely try this hiking trail. Through the Silberachtal up to the Silbermühle, continuing to the Kattenmühle until you reach the hill top of the Preußisch Velmersnot at a hight og 464m. There you can enjoy the 360° panorama view. After that you go first down then up again to the Lippische Velmerstot. You can see the Hermannsdenkmal (northwest), the Köterberg (east), the Warburger Land and the Desenberg (southeast). You continue back down to the restaurant "Silbermühle", where you can relax after finishing the hiking trail.

Bus and train:
Bus line Nr. 357 from the train station Horn-Bad Meinberg in direction Veldrom, Bus stop Kattenmühle
Car:
From Horn-Bad Meinberg, Horn in direction Altenbeken. Shortly before you reach Veldrom take a turn to the to the "Wanderparkplatz". The street name is "Zur Kattenmühle".
