1) Aim of the project ZeitSpende:
The aim of the project ZEITSPENDE (Time Donation) is to provide people with quick and uncomplicated assistance with everyday problems. “Time donors” on the project are dedicated people who are prepared to donate their spare time to a person in need. The person seeking help is referred to as a “time receiver”. The work of ZEITSPENDE can be roughly divided into three areas:
Work with the elderly: Visiting, help with completing forms, providing support after discharge from hospital, doing the shopping, accompanying them on visits to the doctors or public authorities.
Work with families, especially single parents: help if the parent or child becomes ill, providing childcare at short notice, educational support for underprivileged families. Mentoring and sponsorship of refugees.
Practical assistance with small things: household tasks, removals, redecorating.
2) Be part of Zeitspende:
In principle, anyone who wants to actively help others can become a time donor. We have in-depth conversations with anyone interested in our project. The contribution of time donors is just that – their time.
3) Expectations:
The basic requirements expected of the volunteers are:
Time – it needs to be made clear from the start just how much time they have available.
Commitment and reliability – are important prerequisites in order that arrangements are adhered to and any problems are reported.
Personal skills – for example friendliness, empathy, patience and stamina are necessary and helpful when working with others.
Interest – Our volunteers should have an interest in the project and be prepared to support its principles.
German Lanuage skills: Basically, foreign students can become time donors in the various areas just like anyone else. It will come down to whether communication is possible.
Costs: None. As ZEITSPENDE is not a club, there is no membership fee.
4) Specials:
Ability to speak other languages could be used to great advantage where refugees are concerned.
