Philosophy's Relevance in Information Science

The conference aims to present the multilayered reciprocal effects between philosophical basic reflection and applied research in the context of Philosophy and Information Science. It addresses a larger public and offers a forum of discussion between experts from different specialist areas.

Ontology, action and science theory, key topics of philosophical reflection start to become important issues in Information Science. The development of new heuristics and concepts, the questions for reason and evaluation of models, the use of metaphors and the formalization and modelling of structures and ideas are already embedded in Information Sciences.

The aim of the conference is to visualize various relations between Philosophy and Information and to indicate Philosophy’s Relevance in Information Sciences.
