Helmut Pape

Helmut Pape, completed his Ph.D. in 1981 at the University of Hamburg with a thesis on the semiotics of C. S.Peirce. From 1985 to 1991 he worked as Assistent Professor at the University of Freiburg i.Br. In 1987, together with Günter Wohlfart, he founded the "Academie du Midi - Institute for Philosophy" which organized a series of 15 international philosophical symposia. From 1991 to 2000 he taught philosophy at the University of Hannover where he completed his "Habilitation" in 1994. In 2002 he became an extraordinary Professor at the University of Bamberg. From 2004 to 2005 he worked as a research fellow for practical philosophy at the FIPH (Hannover Research Institute for Philosophy). In 2003 he had founded Vinosophia, which sells wines named after philosophers and their ideas. In 2006 and 2007 he worked for two terms as a professor for theoretical philosophy at the university of Darmstadt. From October 2009 to March 2010 he worked as a research fellow in the research group "Bildakt und Verkörperung" at the Humboldt University. Right now, he is teaching the chair for philosophy of science and analytic philosophy at the University of Augsburg. Helmut Pape has published about 30 books and 140 articles in various fields of philosophy ranging from pragmatism, philosophy of language, semiotics, philosophy of science and on metaphysics, on the ontology of visual properties.
